I quickly jumped in to lesfic in college and never looked back, luckily teens today have a bit more variety. Not because they’re less than but because when I graduated high school in 07’ the well of lesbian characters in YA was pretty dry. She Drives Me Crazy is the teen romcom I wanted If you want something that speaks to your inner cheesy teenager self, you should give this a try. You can tell which moments that they start changing their feelings towards each other and it’s so adorable, and if you love grand gestures, you mayyy want to pick this up, but you didn’t hear that from me! Story wise it’s relatively what you’d expect (surface level, at least) of a 2000s high school rom com of a cheerleader and a quarterback, except now it’s sapphic, feminist, emotionally truthful, and has basketball instead of football. Now onto the romance: it was so sweet when they starting getting closer and their journey from enemies to lovers itched that special spot in my cheesy heart. Maybe it was on brand for high school students so maybe it’s just me thinking that. Another thing is it did drag a little longer than necessary at certain points purely because judgements of certain characters were sometimes questionable but it wasn’t completely ruining it for me, so at least that was nice. It’s what brought it up from a 3 star to a 4 star. First of all, right off the bat, I found Scottie to be really frustratingly arrogant and unaware of the emotions of the people around her, BUT I do really approvals the character development I will admit. At that point it’s out of my control! However, I do have some gripes about the story and characters. I really enjoyed the premise of this book, after all I’m a simple gay, when I hear a sapphic book about a cheerleader and an athlete with an enemies to lovers trope, I HAVE to read it. A high school romance that hits all the cliches in almost all the perfect places
